Mountboard standards

As a framer I work with conservation level mountboard as standard and museum grade when required.

Inferior mountboards will not last or protect the lifetime of the framed item.

Artcare Mountboard

Artcare products bring conservation framing into the 21st century. Artcare protects your keepsakes from harmful gases in the air. Natural minerals, called zeolites, trap and hold these gases, keeping them away from your cherished heirlooms forever. This range of mountboard is used all over the world for leading conservation framing. Available in a range of fade resistant colours with different thickness on some colours. I use this as my standard mountboard to give all jobs the best protection long term.

Cotton Rag Mountboard

Often referred to as museum mountboard this is 100% cotton acid free mountboard. Available in a range of thickness referred to by the number of ply ( Layers) thick 1ply - 8ply. This can give the artwork a great look and added protection by placing it further away from the glazing.

Museum Mountboard

Board manufactured from cotton which is 100% free from acid. The facing paper, core and backing are all the same quality and colour. The mountboard can be much thicker than normal mountboard. It is completely harmless to artwork and therefore offers the ideal environment for items of value, as in museum mounting.

Specialty Mountboards

Single & Double Mounts

Single mount as shown above left image. Adds a great look to the framed item along with added protection of keeping the glass away from the surface of your artwork.

Double mounts are the use of two mounts, shown above right. The inner one showing on average 6mm. This can be used to good effect to enhance the look of frame and artwork. There is no limit to how many layers of mount you use it all depends on the artwork or item.

V-Groove

V Grooves are a elegant effect achieved by cutting two bevels into the mount board leaving a v shape cut out in the board.

It works especially well on neutral mounts or with colour core mounts.

I also offer wash-lines, hand painted lines and wash on mountboard and embossing effects for mounts. The range of special shapes and corner effects is almost limitless. I always enjoy finding new designs and methods to achieve results for customers.
